Brett Dewey

Hello, my name is Brett Dewey. I am the resource room teacher here at Owyhee Elementary. I started working in the special education field back in 1975. I began working in group homes for adults with disabilities. The field of special education was in a moment of great change, with the onset of Public Law 94-142, which later became the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). In 1976 I soon realized that if I wanted to be part of the big changes, I needed to get a special education degree. I went on to Idaho State University, where I earned both a bachelor and masters degrees in special education. With my new teaching certificate, I started teaching high school in American Falls, Idaho. I moved to Boise five years later and started my first elementary teaching experience. I didn't know at the time that 30+ years later that I would still be teaching at the elementary level. I have been at Owyhee now for over 25 years. I love my job. I am proud of our school and our staff.
